Ted and Wendy Ambler establised Chalkers Crossing in 1997 when the first vines were planted at the Rockleigh Vineyard in the Hilltops Region near Young in New South Wales NSW, north-west of Canberra.  The company produces premium wines from two cool-climate regions in southern NSW, Australia.

The Hilltops region has a long history of producing high quality grapes and from them very smart wines.  The wines cellar well and exhibit concentrated, rich fruit characters.

The Chalkers Crossing, Hilltops Semillon is yellow with green tints in colour, it displays flinty, citrus aromas.  On the palate it has green citrus and apricot flavours, followed by smooth creamy straw flavours from barrel maturation.  There is a good balance of fruit, acid and alcohol which help develop the lingering palate.  The wine undergoes 100% barrel fermentation and maturation on lees for 10 months.

The Chalkers Crossing, Hilltops Semillon will compliment foods such as oily rich flavoured fish eg sardines, pan fried chicken, un-pasteurised 24 month aged cheddar.

Chalkers Crossing has achieved the highly sought after top award of 5 stars from James Halliday in his latest 2011 Australian Wine Companion, please click on the link below
